SFU Student Teachers
Langley Meadows is happy to welcome 16 student teachers and their faculty advisor who will be spending the next 4 months learning at our school. They will be spending time in one of our portables doing coursework and also spending time working alongside our staff learning the ins and outs of being a classroom teacher
Trinity Western Student Nurses
Each year Langley Meadows partners TWU, and their nurses in training come to the school one day each week to teach Health and Career Lessons. These include things like hand washing, proper nutrition, healthy teeth, healthy activity and more. These lessons also include body parts and personal safety for primary students and puberty for the intermediates. The school will advise when they get close to these lessons and parents are welcome to come and preview material being presented if they would like
Foundation Skills Assessment (Grade 4 Parents)
Every year students in grades 4 and 7 participate in the Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA), a province-wide assessment, mandated by the Ministry of Education. This year the FSA will be administered in Langley between January 23 and February 17, 2017. For further information on the purpose and use of the FSA please see here –> FSA Parent Letter 2017

About the LMCA:
The Langley Meadows Community Association (LMCA) is non-profit organization run by a volunteer board of directors. The LMCA coordinates many activities for our community including Meadows Out Of School Care (MOOSC), Breakfast Club, Adult Running Group, after school programs and activities, family movie nights, Nights’ Alice, community events, ect.

BREAKFAST CLUB:
The Breakfast Club runs Monday through Friday on days school is in session (not on Professional Days or Statutory Holidays). Children are welcome to come any time between 8:00-8:40 to join us in the library for a healthy meal. Breakfast items may include one or more of the following; oatmeal, cold cereal and milk, fruit, yogurt, toast and cheese, juice and hot chocolate.
MORNING DROP-IN GYM:
**Currently drop-in fees are assisting with new basketballs and volleyballs for the gym**
The LMCA and gym teacher work together to offer open gym every morning from 8:10-8:40
*Please note kindergartens must be supervised by a parent/guardian
$1 drop-in fee (Drop in fees for morning gym go towards new gym equipment)
RUNNING CLUB:
The Langley Meadows Running Group meets in the school parking lot every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30pm for an (approximately) hour run/walk. Both beginner and experienced runners are welcome. Please check out our facebook page (Langley Meadows Running Group) for daily/weekly schedule updates.
*NOTE-Change of DAY*
Yoga for adults will runs each Wednesday from 6:45-7:45pm beginning in the school library.
NEVER DONE YOGA BEFORE??? Come along and try it out, all fitness (and flexibility) levels are welcome!
$5 drop-in fee or $30 for 6 sessions
This popular open gym program for students in grades 5-7 operates from our school gym.
Program runs Fridays from 6:30-8:00pm. Parents need to accompany children on first night to fill in registration forms.

Special Presentation From DPAC
In partnership with Langley Parents as Partners in Learning, DPAC is happy to be putting on the following special presentation Kids and Anxiety from Christine Yu, MA. Christine has worked extensively in the field of anxiety, both as a researcher and a practitioner. She is currently working as a Registered Clinical Counsellor at the LEAP Clinic in Vancouver, BC, providing evidence based treatment for children, adolescents and families.
If you have a child that suffers from Anxiety, this may be the presentation for you. Please share with all parents. Details for registration and payment are outlined on the poster.

The Langley Meadows Community Association (LMCA) is non-profit organization run by a volunteer board of directors. The LMCA coordinates many activities for our community including Meadows Out Of School Care (MOOSC), Breakfast Club, Adult Running Group, after school programs and activities, family movie nights, Nights’ Alice, community events, ect.

BREAKFAST CLUB:
The Breakfast Club runs Monday through Friday on days school is in session (not on Professional Days or Statutory Holidays). Children are welcome to come any time between 8:00-8:40 to join us in the library for a healthy meal. Breakfast items may include one or more of the following; oatmeal, cold cereal and milk, fruit, yogurt, toast and cheese, juice and hot chocolate.
RUNNING CLUB:
The Langley Meadows Running Group meets in the school parking lot every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30pm for an (approximately) hour run/walk. Both beginner and experienced runners are welcome. Please check out our facebook page (Langley Meadows Running Group) for daily/weekly schedule updates.
Yoga for adults will runs each Monday from 6:20-7:20pm beginning in the school library.
NEVER DONE YOGA BEFORE??? Come along and try it out, all fitness (and flexibility) levels are welcome!
$7 drop-in fee
This popular open gym program for students in grades 5-7 operates from our school gym.
Program runs Fridays from 6:30-8:00pm. Parents need to accompany children on first night to fill in registration forms.
Parents: please be sure to sign your child in and out every Friday. There will be weekly program updates on the Langley Meadows Community Facebook page.

Was a great success!! A BIG THANK YOU to all the families that purchased a book and supported Langley Meadows School.
Langley Meadows Students sold 391 books, raising $4692.00 for the school
Money raised will be used to purchase technology items for the classrooms.
